MONTHLY MEETINGS

LOCAL EVENTS

PUBLIC OBSERVING (weather permitting)

For the summer, observing will take place after the Lawrence Band Concerts on alternate Wed. evenings.
The currently scheduled evenings are:
Wednesday
     May 30
     June 13
     June 27
     July 11

Telescopes will be set up in South Park, west of Mass St.  at ~9:00 PM so that observing can attract people leaving the concerts and be available by the time it becomes dark (~9:30 PM). If you can help with a scope, please contact Rick Heschmeyer (rickheschmeyer@gmail.com).

Regular Public Observing at the Baker Wetlands Discovery Center takes place after the monthly meetings during the Fall and Spring semesters. When meetings resume in the Fall, dates will be posted. See the map below for the site of the Discovery Center in south Lawrence.

The Facebook page for the Discovery Center can be accessed here.

In addition to telescopes set up by AAL members, we will be utilizing the 14" scope permanently housed at the Discovery Center.
Come join the fun and enjoy the dark(er) skies south of town.

Monthly Meetings of the AAL during the school year are held on the same nights as the Sunday Public Observing Sessions, at the Baker Wetlands Discovery Center. The meetings will begin at 7PM and finish in time to allow all attendees to take part in the open observing.  Meetings will take place irrespective of the weather conditions.
